Alumnae

Dear Alumnae,

Greetings and a warm welcome!  Since SCA was founded by the Sisters of Mercy 120 years ago, we have consistently provided young women with the skills and confidence to become effective, contributing members of society.  In this environment, our students have had the special advantage of a very caring faculty and excellent academic program.  We are proud that 100 percent of our students graduated, and 96 percent went on to two or four year colleges earning more than $2 million in academic scholarships.

I want you to know that our enrollment remains strong.  We welcomed 190 new Catharinites in September to the Class of 2013.  Our total enrollment for 2009-2010 is 720 students.

At the same time, the difficult economic climate has had a serious impact on students and their families.  To help families impacted by the loss of jobs and other financial crisis, we received a grant of $70,000 from the RTS Family Foundation in May 2009.  However, SCA’s financial resources are insufficient to meet the growing need for financial aid.  Contributions for scholarships and tuition assistance are always appreciated.  Our tuition is $6, 050 for the current academic year.

I am so grateful to all of you who helped us achieve our Challenge Grant.  We were challenged to raise $30,000 in new contributions to the Annual Fund and we raised $35,000!  We could not have done this without the assistance of our alumnae.

My sincere gratitude and thanks to all who have supported SCA with your gifts and in kind services throughout the year.   You have made so much possible.

Best wishes,
