What does it mean to be a Mercy School?
Catharinites, who are students in the Mercy tradition:

Families in grades 9-12, who are interested in applying for financial aid can do so by applying through FACTS Management. SCA does not offer financial aid assistance for grades 6-8 at this time. Students in grades 9-12 will be notified with their acceptance notices in January. To apply go to the FACTS website: www.scahs.org/facts/ and create an account. There is a $40 nonrefundable application fee, payable by debit or credit card. Final SCA awards are contingent upon funds available and the number of families requesting aid.
Your 2023 taxes and W-2s should be attached to your financial aid application.
For current SCA students, the Financial Aid window will be open from March to May 2025 with announcements made in July.
Does SCA offer an academic scholarship?
An invitation to become a Trustee Scholar, SCA academic scholarship program, is awarded to freshmen who achieve a rank of 92nd percentile on the TACHS examination and meet attendance and behavioral requirements. Students must place SCA on her list of schools on the TACHS in order to be considered for a Trustee Scholarship. A Trustee Scholarship is equal to 55% of tuition. Students must follow the prescribed course of study and meet academic and behavioral standards to remain eligible. Students may enter the Trustee Scholar Program at any level.
How do I get to SCA?
St. Catharine Academy is located in the heart of the Bronx. We are conveniently located on Williamsbridge Road and Pelham Parkway. Our Laconia Avenue side Lobby Entrance is located directly across the street from the 5 train station (Pelham Parkway stop). In addition, the BX 8 and 12 buses stop on Williamsbridge Road and Pelham Parkway. We are also in close proximity to the Metro-North Fordham train station.
What is SCA's Average Class Size?
The average class size is about 25 students. The class sizes depend on the grade level and subject that students are taking.
What is SCA's Student/Faculty Ratio?
The student-to-faculty ratio is 17:1.
Does SCA offer a Breakfast and Lunch Program?
Yes, SCA does offer a Breakfast and Lunch Program. The program is professionally prepared by Westchester Taco Grill. We do not offer the city breakfast - lunch free or reduced program. Students are welcome to bring their own lunch.
Do students have to wear uniforms at SCA, if so where are they ordered from?
Students are required to wear a school uniform. Uniforms are ordered through Liebman's. For grades 9-12, the SCA gym uniform is an SCA T-Shirt (which can be purchased at the book room in the cafeteria) and school-appropriate sweatpants, leggings, or shorts.
Does SCA require an additional application outside of the TACHS Exam in order to apply?
If you missed the TACHS exam you must take St. Catharine Academy's entrance exam. The cost is $71.00 which will be applied to your application fee of $200 if accepted to St. Catharine Academy. The test wias offered on January 26, 2025 at St. Catharine Academy. Parents are welcome to stay and wait for their child. Tours also be available.
