Signature Program: Service Learning

Mercy Day speaker
Our Service Learning program teaches students about the complexities that exist in areas of social justice. Supported by academic work in Theology classes, students are challenged to confront issues such as homelessness and hunger through advocacy, education and direct engagement with the marginalized and vulnerable.

Students are immersed in service learning through activities, advocacy and co-curricular activities. Guest speakers bring service learning to life. Organizations which recently visited SCA included:

  • Housing Solutions of New York
  • Mercy Center
  • Midnight Run
  • Part of the Solution (POTS)

Academic intersection of learning and service
Service learning activities throughout the year will give students opportunities for experiential learning. Concepts taught in their Theology courses will be brought to life as they work together to make real change in the local community and beyond.
